INGREDIENTS

Apple Fritters

  • 2 honey crisp apples, cored and cut into 1/4" slices
  • 1 cup 1x1 gluten-free flour
  • 2 tbsp Big Tree Farms Organic Golden Coconut Sugar
  • 12 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 cup dairy or dairy-free milk
  • 1 egg
  • Neutral oil for frying

Coconut Sugar Salted Caramel

  • 1/2 cup Big Tree Farms Organic Golden Coconut Sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

For Serving

  • Frönen Apple Pie Nice Cream
  • Flaky sea salt, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and sea dalt. Then add milk and egg, and mix until just combined.
  2. Heat a 1/4" layer of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Test if ready to fry by dropping in a drop of batter and seeing if it starts to sizzle immediately.
  3. Dip a slice of apple into the batter then lay into the oil, repeating to fill your pan with space in between each. Cook the fritters for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove from oil and set on a paper towel to absorb excess oil until ready to serve.

  1. Make Caramel: Melt the butter and Big Tree Farms Organic Golden Coconut Sugar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir until smooth.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and sea salt.
  3. Place a few slices of warm apple fritter in each serving bowl and top with a scoop of Fronen Apple Pie Nice Cream.
  4. Drizzle generously with the coconut sugar salted caramel and finish with flaky sea salt.
